Sony Could Release PS5 Pro In Time For Second GTA 6 Trailer Reveal

From GTA BOOM Wiki

Sony's chip manufacturer just spilled the beans about the PS5 Pro, confirming earlier reports about a GTA 6 partnership.

Sony remains tight-lipped about its upcoming mid-generation console upgrade, the PlayStation 5 Pro. However, we can't say the same about its partner companies.

One Chinese chip maker, in particular, has confirmed that it experienced a boost in its power management integrated circuit (PMIC) orders in Q3 because of the "new models of PS5, Xbox, and Switch."

This latest bit of info comes from the Chinese news site MoneyDJ (courtesy of TweakTown) after attending an investor's briefing led by Weltrend's CEO.

The PS5 Pro has long been expected for a late 2024 release, and this timeline lines up with the earlier reports.

Back in February, we covered leaks suggesting that Sony and Rockstar Games are in cahoots. This rumored partnership will help boost the potential sales of Grand Theft Auto 6 and the incoming console by establishing it as the go-to platform for the highly anticipated title.

GTA 6 would look so much better on the PS5 Pro.

While this isn't an official confirmation by any means, a company like Weltrend isn't going to share information about its expected increase in earnings to investors if they don't carry any weight.

Microsoft, for example, will release three new Xbox consoles later this year: a 1TB all-digital Xbox Series S, a 1TB all-digital Xbox Series X, and a 2TB special edition Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, Nintendo's successor to the Nintendo Switch, which may finally be able to run Grand Theft Auto 5.

Unless the executive was talking about a new limited-edition PS5 for Concord or Astro Bot (highly unlikely, but possible), all signs point to a PS5 Pro reveal at Tokyo Game Show 2024 next month ahead of its release in November or December. At this point, we'll all be looking forward to the release of the next GTA 6 trailer.

With its upgraded hardware, the PS5 Pro would immediately emerge as the best system to enjoy GTA 6 until the PC port comes out. Then again, given that Take-Two Interactive refuses to acknowledge that a PC port will be coming anytime soon, the PS5 Pro will likely dominate sales off the backs of the hype generated with its association with GTA 6.

In the meantime, GTA 5 fans can look forward to watching Alex McKenna and Ned Luke co-host the Future Games Show on August 21. Finally, check out this new ad by ASUS ROG featuring two-thirds of the iconic GTA 5 protagonist trio.
