Huge Rockstar hiring push sparks GTA 6 development rumors
Rockstar Games has made it clear that it wants to focus on one thing alone: Grand Theft Auto 6.
While it's true that Red Dead Online isn't closing down anytime soon and Rockstar will still update Grand Theft Auto Online, the publisher's latest statement about making GTA 6 "the best it can possibly be" proved that it feels the pressure.
But, hearing Rockstar say one thing is different from watching the company put its money where its mouth is. For example, the publisher is now hiring for more than 200 positions across its global studios with more than 70 job listings popping up over the last few days either on its careers page or Hitmaker.
If that doesn't tell you that Rockstar is kicking GTA 6's development up a notch, we don't know what will.
The job openings cover everything that you can expect from a Rockstar game with opportunities across wherever the longtime GTA developers have a studio. But, of course, we're not saying that this is all for GTA 6. After all, Rockstar isn't a one-game company.
As we might have mentioned already, Rockstar is still supporting GTA Online as well as Red Dead Online, to some extent. However, reports suggest that Rockstar has dropped games from its pipelines to focus on GTA 6. Among those that have been canceled include GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters as well as Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
Unless Rockstar somehow thinks it can slide a new Bully or Manhunt game past the ever-watchful eyes of its fans, it's safe to say that Rockstar has put all hands on deck for GTA 6.
