Rockstar Games Welcomes Bully to Its Growing GTA+ Roster

From GTA BOOM Wiki

GTA+ subscribers are getting a nostalgic treat. Time to relive those school days.

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the beloved classic, Bully, will be joining the GTA+ games library on August 20th. This long-awaited addition to the subscription service fulfills the wishes of countless fans who have been clamoring for a return to the halls of Bullworth Academy. Now, what do we need to do to get a sequel?

The announcement comes as no surprise to those who've been following Rockstar's recent moves. Earlier this year, the company revealed plans to boost the GTA+ subscription with a selection of classic titles, including Bully and L.A. Noire. With Red Dead Redemption already gracing the service, the inclusion of Bully marks another significant step in expanding GTA+'s appeal beyond GTA Online.

Bully, originally released in 2006, captured the hearts of gamers with its unique blend of open-world exploration and coming-of-age humor. The game's enduring popularity has fueled speculation about a potential sequel for years, with rumors of a canceled Bully 2 swirling within the gaming community.

Although Bully has a smaller fanbase compared to GTA, its dedicated following would undoubtedly send the internet into a frenzy if a sequel or remaster were announced.

These rumors were not entirely unfounded. According to reliable leaks from industry insiders like TezFunz2 and Yan2295, Bully 2 was indeed in development for several years, potentially starting in the early 2010s. However, the project was reportedly scrapped in 2017 as Rockstar shifted resources to focus on the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.

This decision likely came down to a matter of priorities. While Bully boasts a dedicated fanbase, Grand Theft Auto is undeniably Rockstar's flagship franchise. With GTA 6 expected to be a massive undertaking, it seems Rockstar felt it necessary to dedicate all available resources to ensure its successful development.

The enduring success of GTA is seemingly taking no prisoners, with GTA 5 story content having been confirmed as a victim of GTA Online. Despite the disappointment of a canceled sequel, the addition of the original Bully in the GTA+ library offers fans a chance to revisit Bullworth Academy and relive the nostalgic experience.

As Rockstar continues to expand its subscription service with beloved classics, it's clear that the company is committed to providing value to GTA+ members in spite of controversy and complaints. With the addition of Bully and the ongoing success of GTA Online, Rockstar is solidifying its position as a dominant force in the gaming industry — something GTA 6 will only strengthen further.
