Bottom Dollar Bounties Business Guide
GTA Online's Bottom Dollar update is turning players into bounty hunting moguls.
The Bottom Dollar update for GTA Online has arrived, bringing a new way to make some serious cash. This guide will equip you with everything you need to know to become a successful bounty hunting sharpshooter, covering everything from picking the perfect location to important upgrades.
We'll also dive into how the agents work, payouts, mission cooldowns, and some bounty hunting tips and tricks to make you a pro.
Bail Office
When you first log into GTA Online after the update, stay in free roam and wait for a call from Maude. After the call, you can purchase the new bail office. From there, you can operate your new business and go on bounty hunting missions. There are five different locations where you can purchase the bail office, but only four of them are good choices since they are in the city.
The fifth location is in Paleto Bay, which isn't recommended. While it is cheaper when compared to the offices in the city, it will make things unnecessarily difficult as you'll have to drive all the way up north for everything.
You can purchase the new property by going to Maze Bank Foreclosures website. The following are all the bail offices in GTA Online:
- Paleto Bay: $1,650,000
- Davis: $2,000,000
- Del Perro: $2,350,000
- Mission Row: $2,390,000
- Downtown Vinewood: $2,620,000
We recommend you get the office at Davis if you're low on cash, but completely scratch the Paleto Bay office off the list, unless you don't mind traveling a lot.
Upgrades
Before we go any further, let's talk about the upgrades you can get for your Bail Office:
- Style: $125,000 Style is completely optional and not necessary for any bounty missions. It's just for the interior look and depends on your preference. You can skip this upgrade if you don't have any spare cash.
- Agents: $750,000 for one Agent & $1,500,000 for two Agents. Although agents are optional, we highly recommend getting them for your bounty hunting business (at least one Agent). Agents are crucial if you want to maximize your profits and efficiency. They help speed up your processing time. More details on this can be found in 'The Agents' section below.
- Personal Quarters: $295,000 It is good to have this as it will allow you to fast travel to your bail office.
- Gun Locker: $175,000 The Gun Locker is an optional upgrade, and we do not recommend purchasing it. This feature allows you to hide or show certain weapons in your weapon wheel, but players rarely use it after the initial setup. If you've already bought a Gun Locker for another property, there's no real reason to get it here other than for future convenience. Skip this upgrade if you have already purchased it elsewhere.
- Armor Plating: $125,000 Armor Plating is for the van that comes with your bounty hunting business. This van will be used to transport captured bounties back to the bail office. While beneficial, it's not necessary to purchase it early on. You can always get it later when you can afford it. During missions, you can call your mechanic to bring any personal vehicle to reach your targets. However, once you apprehend a bounty, you'll automatically be placed in the van with your bounty, and you must drive them to the bail office while enemies try to stop you. This is where the armor becomes useful.
So, in total, maxing out your purchased bail office will set you back $2,220,000. Whatever property you purchase it'll be shy of $5 million with maxed upgrades (except the Paleto Bay property since it is cheaper).
Once you've purchased the bail office, make your way to the property and enter for an intro cutscene, where Maude will introduce you to her daughter Jenette.
Bounties
You can start the bounties by accessing the computer in your bail office. There are two types of bounties you can accept from your laptop — regular or most wanted bounties.
Regular Bounties
The regular bounties are highlighted in blue and pay you anywhere between $35,000 to $40,000. Regular bounties are carried out in free roam and you can use any vehicle to get to the bounties.
You get three regular bounties that reset every hour in real-time. After completing a bounty, you must wait for a 48-minute cooldown, equivalent to one in-game day, before you can do the next one.
These missions are quick and straightforward without any complicated tasks.
Most Wanted Bounties
The most wanted bounty targets refresh daily with the server reset, and you can only complete one most wanted bounty each day.
The most wanted bounty also pays a lot more than the regular bounties. Most Wanted bounties typically reward you with over $120,000.
These bounties are not found in free roam. Instead, starting a Most Wanted bounty mission teleports you to a separate mission instance, and you can have up to four players. However, these missions are completely manageable as a solo player.
In addition to the bounty rewards, most wanted missions also offer additional loot opportunities. For instance, during Cleo Song's mission, you can steal a mask memorabilia from a trailer within the stage area.
Similarly, in Grace Whitney's mission, there's a painting you can steal. These items are optional secondary loot and are not required to complete the missions. Some of these items, like a painting we stole, may only be worth $5,000.
Bounty Penalty
While it's possible to bring in the bounty dead, we advise against it as it will result in a massive loss of payout rewards. When approaching a bounty target, aim to shoot at their hands to disarm them or use a stun gun to incapacitate them safely.
Once incapacitated, interact with them to secure them in your van and transport them to the bail office. This approach ensures the successful completion of the mission without unnecessary losing your money.
If you kill the bounty, your final reward is decreased by 75%, which is a significant reduction! This penalty applies to both regular and most wanted bounties.
The Agents
Agents play an important role in processing your bounties at the bail office. Once you bring your bounties to the bail office, you will not get paid immediately. You will need the criminals to be processed before getting paid.
If you have no agents, processing will take 24 minutes (real-time). The following table shows the processing time reduction with each agent you purchase:
Agents | Processing Time | Upgrade Cost |
---|---|---|
0 | 24 minutes | - |
1 | 12 minutes | $750,000 |
2 | 6 minutes | $750,000 |
Safe
Another aspect of this business is the safe, which provides a semi-passive way to make some extra money. The safe generates income when you send your agents to hunt bounties for you.
You can find the agents sitting at their desks inside your bail office. Interact with them to send them out to hunt bounties.
Each agent will net you between $5,000 and $10,000 every 48 minutes. If you send both agents at the same time, you can expect between $10,000 and $20,000 every 48 minutes.
The safe can hold up to $100,000, and once it is full, the agents will not deposit any more money in it.
Dispatch Work
Dispatch Work is a new type of vigilante mission that you can complete by owning one of the cop cars. This includes both the previously released cop cars from the Chop Shop DLC and the newer ones from the Bottom Dollar DLC.
The main question everyone asks is how to start dispatch work. It is quite simple. Once you own one of the cop cars, sit in the driver's seat and press 'B' on the keyboard followed by 'E' to request dispatch work from Vincent. If you're on a console, press the right-analog stick followed by the right d-pad.
Dispatch missions are straightforward and quick to complete, offering various types of tasks such as breaking into hideouts to collect evidence, eliminating criminals, or disabling explosives at specific locations, among many others.
You earn $25,000 for each piece of dispatch work completed. However, there's a 5-minute cooldown after finishing a single job. You'll then need to wait for this cooldown to expire before starting another mission.
Bottom Dollar Cop Cars
The following are the new cop cars released with the Bottom Dollar business. The requirement to unlock these cop cars is the same as for previously released vehicles: complete the 'Slush Fund' mission within "The Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid" as a leader at least once. If you've already completed this mission in the past, the new vehicles will be unlocked automatically, allowing you to purchase them directly.
You can purchase all these cop cars from the Warstock Cache & Carry website.
- Greenwood Cruiser The Greenwood Cruiser can be purchased for a base price of $4,910,000 and a trade price of $3,682,500.
- Dorado Cruiser The Dorado Cruiser is available for a base price of $5,005,000, with a trade price of $3,753,750 that you can unlock by completing the dispatch mission called 'Officer Monitored.' In this mission, you'll need to infiltrate a criminal hideout, recover the evidence, and deliver it to Vincent's lockup to successfully complete the mission and unlock the trade price. The dispatch missions you get are random, you must wait until you get this mission for the trade price.
- Impaler SZ Cruiser The Impaler SZ Cruiser is available for a base price of $4,720,000, with a trade price of $3,540,000. To unlock the trade price for the Impaler SZ Cruiser, you must complete the dispatch mission 'Possession for Sale.' In this mission, your objective is to drive to the specified location, eliminate the gang members, and recover the narcotics.
You can unlock the trade price by completing 5 dispatch work jobs.
Once you have the narcotics, deliver them to Vincent's Lockup to successfully complete the mission and unlock the trade price for the Impaler SZ Cruiser.
For information on unlocking other cop cars and their trade prices, please refer to our other guide.
List of Dispatch Missions
Whenever you start dispatch work, you get a random mission from the following list of missions:
- Officer Monitored: Head to the hideout, recover the evidence, and deliver it to Vincent's lockup to complete the mission.
- Malicious Mischief: Head to the specified building and disable the explosives. It is best to use an Oppressor Mark II or a Sparrow helicopter.
- Civil Disturbance: Eliminate all the gang generals.
- Possession for Sale: Head to the specified location, eliminate the enemies, and recover the narcotics. Deliver the narcotics to Vincent's lockup to complete the mission.
Personal Vehicle Tip
When you're doing dispatch work, you aren't restricted to using your cop car for the entire mission. Once you've started a dispatch mission after requesting it, you can exit the cop car and request any other vehicle through your mechanic.
This flexibility is particularly handy for missions like 'Malicious Mischief,' which may require you to disable explosives at a high altitude. In that case, you can always request your Oppressor Mark II, Buzzard, or a Sparrow.
