Rumors about GTA 6 having three protagonists? Not so fast!
Grand Theft Auto 6 is Rockstar Games' next big project. Naturally, rumors about the game are all over the internet. For example, the most popular one is that GTA 6 will have three main characters. But, it appears that this leak is not true.
According to Jason Schreier, all the talks about GTA 6 having a three-protagonist system are "fan fiction" and "the game is in development and many details are still in flux or not decided yet."

You can't blame fans for believing that Rockstar Games is going with the same formula from GTA 5 for GTA 6. GTA 5 is the best-selling game in the world outside of Minecraft, so if the studio was to copy something, it didn't need to look far.
At the same time, GTA 6 probably won't do well if it's just a GTA 5 clone. It needs to establish its own identity, and having the same number of protagonists will only draw in more comparisons than it inevitably already will at launch.
Ultimately, we agree with Schreier that GTA 6 isn't far along enough in its development for Rockstar to have finalized things. When you consider Rockstar's expectations and ambitions along with the COVID-19 pandemic, everything about GTA 6 is still subject to change until Rockstar is satisfied with what it sees.
For now, the only thing certain about GTA 6 is that Rockstar is working on it and it's all-in on making sure that it's the best game it can be.

Rockstar reportedly even canceled work on a remaster of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption as well as a next-gen port of Red Dead Redemption 2 to focus on GTA 6.
