GTA V Sells 3 Million PS4/X1 Copies in 1 Week
Everyone interested in GTA V wondered how it would do sales-wise when it was remastered for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Analysts predicted it would sell less than the original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, not a difficult conclusion to come to given the sizes of the relative install bases and the fact that not everyone who bought GTA V the first time would buy it again. GTA V came out for the PS4 and Xbox One on November 18, so at last we can take a look at some sales figures instead of just speculating.
Once again, GTA V did really well. According to VGChartz (which may not be entirely reliable, but it can at least give us a good idea), a total of 3,093,320 copies of GTA V for the PS4 and Xbox One were sold during its first week. The majority of those sales were for the PS4 version, although the Xbox One still brought in about a third.
We can't be entirely sure yet these are the accurate sales figures (and we're aware some of the numbers in VGChartz's article don't add up properly), but this paints a good picture for GTA V's new release. It's off to a strong start, and 2015's PC release might be even more powerful.
Did you pick up GTA V for the PS4 or Xbox One? Are you planning to buy the PC version?
