Scrapped GTA 6 plans include four protagonists and three cities
Right now, the only confirmed information about GTA 6 is that Rockstar Games is working on it. However, this hasn't stopped leakers from revealing info about the upcoming GTA game. The latest intel even goes as far as to suggest that Rockstar initially had a much larger plan for GTA 6.
According to Axios' Stephen Totilo, Rockstar Games wanted "four protagonists and three cities" for GTA 6. The source of the information, which is reportedly close to Rockstar, claims that the codename for GTA 6 is "Project Americas," something we've reported on extensively before.
They explain that the codename comes from the original map size for GTA 6. Unfortunately, it appears that Rockstar has abandoned its original plans for GTA 6. Most likely, Rockstar will revisit the scrapped content from the earlier build. After giving gamers no DLC for GTA 5 and a ton for GTA Online, Rockstar could look to repackage the canceled content as expansions for GTA 6.

If Rockstar uses the rumored cut content, GTA 6 would mirror GTA 4. The 2008 title had two highly successful expansions: "The Lost and Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony".
For now, the consensus is that GTA 6 will have two protagonists, including the franchise's first female lead. In fact, some fans believe that they've found the actress that Rockstar has cast to take on the lead role.
Unfortunately, since GTA 6 is expected to remain in development until at least 2024 or 2025, it's highly unlikely that we'll get many more official details about the game at least for the next year or two.
In the meantime, GTA fans can keep themselves busy by playing GTA Online. The latest GTA Online update added a ton of cars to the game as well as new missions such as Operation Paper Trail.
