NoPixel Arab taken down following LGBTQ+ backlash

From GTA BOOM Wiki

The GTA Online RP server, NoPixel, is one of the most popular private servers in the game. It's an exclusive community consisting of streamers and is a constant draw, with millions of viewers every month. It has also been described as one of the most progressive online spaces and communities, which is saying a lot given how toxic the internet can be. But, as NoPixel quickly found out, it can do wrong.

NoPixel's newest server caters specifically to the Arabs. Because the server is relatively new, the management team can be a bit touch and go.

In a recent "update", the managing team behind the Arab NoPixel server claims the server is banning any form of LGBTQIA+ on the server because it goes against their religious beliefs. Unfortunately, the internet quickly called out NoPixel for its hypocritical stance.

It is an RP server's job to let people do whatever they as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

The main problem started when the internet caught wind of the incident. If NoPixel wanted to stand by its religious principles, it would ban plenty of the most fun activities that any player can do in GTA Online, including looting, robbing, and murder.

After much backlash and deliberation, NoPixel confirmed that the short-lived Arab NoPixel server is no more.

NoPixel reassured fans that they will be refunded for any payments made to join the Arab GTA Online NoPixel RP server.

The streamer central to the conflict, Dantexstar, hasn't been spared from the backlash. The entire situation started when NoPixel Arab issued their initial announcement because he was roleplaying an LGBTQ+ character on the server. The admin threatened to ban him if he didn't stop, remove his rainbow-colored bracelet and remove the LGBTQ+ tag from his Twitch stream.

While Dantexstar complied, the shutdown resulted in some players blaming him for it. He's received homophobic remarks since the shutdown. But, fans have rallied behind Dantexstar to show him support. NoPixel has also whitelisted Dantexstar on its main GTA Online PR servers, so fans will be seeing a lot more of him sooner rather than later.

Despite the controversy, NoPixel deserves credit for acting quickly. Otherwise, this story would've escalated further and been picked up by mainstream media. If that happened, the public outcry would put pressure on Take-Two Interactive to do something drastic. At that point, we won't know what Take-Two will do.

Speaking of Grand Theft Auto Online, Rockstar Games is sending off The Los Santos Drug Wars expansion with a bang with its latest weekly GTA Online update.
