New Event Week In GTA Online Kicked Off

From GTA BOOM Wiki

After a long period of consistent DLC releases every Tuesday, today marks the second week in a row that no new content has been added to Grand Theft Auto Online. Instead, Rockstar has once again offered in-game discounts and promotions to motivate players into sticking with the game.

The double RP and GTA$ promotion this week applies to the Occupy Adversary Mode, one of the more recent entries in Rockstar's long-running and arguably bloated lineup of competitive game modes with their own mechanics and rule-sets.

Occupy is a territory control game mode where your team needs to capture and hold zones on the map by preventing enemy players from setting foot there, whilst also conquering new zones to increase the speed at which your score increments.

While all maps of Occupy will reward players with double payouts, another option is a special playlist called the Bunker Series which mixes together a wide range of Adversary Modes, one map each, all set within a Bunker. The modes on offer in the playlist include Slasher, Juggernaut, Kill Quota, Till Death Do Us Part, Every Bullet Counts, Trading Places and Resurrection.

In case you haven't yet had the chance to try out the content from The Doomsday Heist on account of not being able to afford a Facility, the special kind of property needed to run missions from the DLC, now is your chance.

Three Facilities are discounted, with the Land Act Reservoir Facility being 30% off, the Route 68 Facility 25% off and finally the Lago Zancudo Facility being 20% off. Owning these properties will open up some of GTA Online's best, and not to mention most lucrative, content.

A bunch of vehicles have also been discounted, some more heavily than others. The Buckingham Alpha-Z1, Buckingham Akula, Western Company Rogue, RM-10 Bombushka, Coil Cyclone, Dewbauchee Rapid GT Classic, HVY APC, Karin Technical and Benefactor Turreted Limo are all 25% off, while the Progen T20 is discounted by 30% and the HVY Dump, of all things, is half-off.

The lack of DLC for two weeks may seem troubling to some, but really it's just a slight inconvenience following such a long period of time over which the GTA Online player base has been led to expect some kind of new content every Tuesday.

Whatever the next DLC for the game may be, Rockstar is clearly putting quite a bit of work into it, and we're eagerly awaiting any announcements from them.
