Heist DLC And More Coming To GTA Online Soon
It's been a while since Grand Theft Auto Online got any significant updates.
Weekly events have been rolling, and a while ago we got Gerald's Last Play introducing a few Contact Missions, but that's about it. The same content drought hit Rockstar's other main title, Red Dead Online even harder — but now we know both games are about to get some major DLC.
Announced on the Rockstar Newswire, players can expect a large but as of yet unnamed summer update for GTA Online.
In the past couple of years Rockstar settled into a schedule of two ultra heavy hitting updates for the game, one during the summer and one near the end of the year, with minor DLCs, holiday events and weekly bonuses sprinkled in between.
Ironically enough, the news post reveals more about this year's later update.
Rockstar calls it the "biggest update" the game ever had, and will involve a whole new spin on the ever popular Heists.
The initial Heists DLC served as the backbone and endgame content for GTA Online spanning years, later expanded with The Doomsday Heist and the Casino Heist, both of which further deepened the gameplay mechanics.
A new Heist-themed update, which will out-do all previous updates as well is definitely something worth waiting for, and guaranteed to kick up some serious hype as players speculate as to what may be involved. Nonetheless, we don't need to wait until Fall for new content — the summer update is just around the corner. Knowing Rockstar and their love of keeping things secret until launch, this vague hint may as well mean it's coming next week.
All we know about this year's summer update is that it is "offering up a fun mix of diverse new content from the game's massive array of experiences to enjoy". Not only are those a lot of words that amount to nothing, but the sentence seems contradictory. Will this be new takes on existing stuff like the Remix Adversary Modes, or entirely new content? Whatever it will involve, that sleek white car up above is going to be part of it.
We'll have to wait and see, but the waiting bit won't take too long!
