GTA Online Finally Patches RC Bandito Glitch as Fans Await GTA 6 Updates
In a surprise update, Rockstar Games just issued a fix for a long-standing issue in Grand Theft Auto Online.
When you become as big and prestigious as Rockstar Games, you begin to work on your own timeline. Crafting the most influential games of entire decades is hard work, and takes precedence over fixing old bugs — so it's best to celebrate when they fix something, even if it takes them years. Case in point: the RC Bandito Glitch in GTA Online.
The infamous bug, which lets your character in Grand Theft Auto Online teleport to the location of your RC Bandito, has been in the game for years. Players have used this glitch to avoid getting jumped and ganged up on in the game and for trolling others by throwing Sticky Bombs while leaving others none the wiser, very much to the annoyance of those who don't like to use such exploits to get ahead in the game.
As per Tez2, Rockstar also fixed other glitches in GTA Online with the background update, including the "Cayo Perico Cooldown Skip" glitch and the various glitches that let you bypass cooldowns for Agent 14, Dax, Yohan, and Tony.
Rockstar has ramped up its updates in recent weeks. It even threw Red Dead Redemption fans a bone by leaking the highly anticipated PC port of last year's Red Dead Redemption remaster for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Nintendo Switch alongside the PC ports of Grand Theft Auto: Expanded and Enhanced and GTA 6.
While Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything about the aforementioned PC ports, it feels like it's only a matter of time before we get an official announcement. These are releases that fans have been asking and hoping for, and any official word would make several dreams come true.
In the meantime, many GTA Online players are waiting for updates from Rockstar regarding BattlEye. After introducing the anti-cheat system to GTA Online back in September, Rockstar has drawn both praise and criticism for the implementation.
Although many appreciate the attempt to protect GTA Online from hackers and cheaters, it has led to certain issues. For starters, you can no longer play GTA Online on the Steam Deck or any Linux based system, which caused the game's reviews to take a slight dent. Rockstar and Valve are working together to fix this, but there's no news as of yet.
Other issues that BattlEye has caused include DDoS attacks, presumed to be led by the affected cheatmakers trying to take official GTA Online servers down as Take-Two and Rockstar join forces to keep GTA Online cheat-free. BattlEye's overzealous tendencies have also caused quite the stir, resulting in false positive bans.
In other official GTA news, GTA Online just turned 11, which should put Rockstar in a celebratory mood after GTA 5 topped sales charts once again in the United Kingdom. Finally, Take-Two Interactive appears to have DMCA'd an "official" GTA 6 leak just days after reaffirming its release date, leading many to believe that the information was legitimate.
