GTA 5 Fan Remakes California By Wax, Nails It

From GTA BOOM Wiki

A surprisingly under-represented aspect of the GTA V fan video community are the minds behind music video recreations. Mostly, the popular videos are the ones where the openings of popular television shows, be it serious or otherwise, however music videos really make great Editor material too.

A music aficionado and GTA V fan known online as "Abstract Mode" has recreated the clip for a song by popular retro band Wax, titled California. I'm lead to believe that his song carries some cultural significance in the United States for the generation who was in high school about two decades ago.

The clip itself is more on the artistic side compared to the videos of most modern hits, owing to the directing of Spike Jonze. Spike is well known in all the walks of the visual media industry, being the mastermind behind various commercials, music videos, as well as films like "Being John Malkovich" and shows like "Jackass".

This video follows a strange man running across a street who has, by unknown means not revealed to the viewer, caught fire. The whole scenario is viewed through the eyes of a child sitting in a car, who does not seem particularly amused by any of it.

Abstract Mode's version of the video is spot on, with all the bystanders in their correct places, the pacing and speed being right, and the outfits and backdrops are all correct as well, with a small surprise at the end. While it certainly would not have been impossible, fitting additional violence into a video the fan focus of which is some dude getting burned alive, the rather artisitic nature of the whole affair would have been lost, GTA or not.

Do any of you guys have any special memories tied to this particular song? What other music videos would you like to see GTA V-ified?
