This is strange. This has no real purpose. This is rather pointless and weird.
This is entertaining as hell.
Usually, when we cover a mod here at GTA BOOM, the mod in question is either groundbreaking in its scope, extremely detailed, or more complex than any other. Maybe it is a faithful recreation of a fun feature from another game, or maybe some iconic vehicles from an acclaimed film series. Occasionally, the mod is just absolutely insane.
However, this GTA V mod is simple. It is loosely based on a mechanic from a game barely remembered. It isn't particularly flashy, and it certainly doesn't go high on the "insane" scale — and yet, there is something about this mod which makes it stand out.
Way back when, in the 1970's, there was a rather controversial arcade game. In fact, this was the first controversial video game ever. Death Race was an extremely simplified racing game, where players scored points by running over NPCs, who then turned into tomb stones which blocked the path.
How that turned into this is a mystery to us all, but the mod's author, CoreLogic stated that this was supposed to be the GTA V version of that mechanic. Oh well.
In Flip All The Things, killing any NPC will result in a number of various props exploding out of their corpse, and flipping. They then remain clumped up in the location where the NPC died, essentially blocking your path, so there is some connection to Death Race. There is a arcade-y sound effect which is surprisingly charming that adds to the experience, but overall the nice simplicity of the mod lends it the most value.
I cannot put my finger on what exactly it is about this mod which makes it so great. It is an enigma of a sort, but you'll thank me if you download it.
What oddly entertaining GTA V mods have you found over the months?
