The Fastest & Best Cars In GTA Online

From GTA BOOM Wiki

Knowing which cars are the fastest and best for racing in GTA Online is key if you want to be first over the finish line.

If you've been looking into how vehicles perform in GTA Online, chances are you've heard of Adam "Broughy" Brough, the go-to guy for car stats regarding this game. If a car exists in GTA Online, you can be certain that he's tested it. With a custom race track designed specifically with vehicle testing in mind, Broughy has calculated all the vehicles lap times and top speeds scientifically.

Cars have various properties in GTA Online beyond top speed. Handling, acceleration, and other characteristics affect their performance in races, which is why it's important to look at lap times as well when deciding which car performs the best in a competitive environment.

Plus, Rockstar is constantly adding new vehicles to GTA Online. While these weekly drip-fed DLC cars rarely cause upheavals in the top of the rankings due to the broad variety on offer, occasionally a record-breaker enters the game. As such, we'll be keeping this list updated as new cars are released.

Fastest GTA Online Cars: Lap Time

These are the overall fastest cars around any course when racing in GTA Online. Lap times are taken from Broughy's specifically designed test track.

  1. Benefactor BR8: 0m:54.788s
  2. Pegassi Weaponized Ignus: 0m:55.589s
  3. Coil Cyclone II: 0m:55.823s
  4. Progen PR4: 0m:56.424s
  5. Declasse DR1: 0m:56.790s
  6. Ocelot R88: 0m:56.791s
  7. Progen Emerus: 0m:58.291s
  8. Principe Deveste Eight: 0m:58.359s
  9. Benefactor Krieger: 0m:58.526s
  10. Benefactor LM87: 0m:58.658s

Here's a quick history lesson: For the longest time, the Pegassi Zentorno was the crowned king of racing in GTA Online, but now it's not even in the top 5 as far as lap times go. It took a while for it to be unseated, but since then many faster cars have been added to the game, with the Benefactor BR8 currently the best.

Fastest GTA Online Cars: Top Speed

GTA Online is well-known for including cars and motorbikes inspired by real-life vehicles. GTA Online cars might not have the exact name and shape, but they are "close" enough to give any car enthusiast an idea of what real-life brand that car is based on.

The different vehicles in GTA Online number in the hundreds, usually leaving new players quite confused about what vehicle they should buy. If you're looking to purchase the fastest cars in GTA Online, then you've come to the right place. Below we've covered the top ten cars with the best top speed in GTA Online, along with their real-life inspirations.

10. Coil Cyclone II

Cyclone-II-Image.jpg
Coil Cyclone II.

Starting at number 10 is the Coil Cyclone II Super Car, inspired by the real-life Rimac Nevera. Cyclone II was added to GTA Online as part of the 'Expanded and Enhanced Edition' update on March 15, 2022.

The vehicle is available to purchase from Legendary Motorsport for $2,250,000. The Cyclone II can reach a maximum speed of up to 141.00 mph (226.92 km/h) and has excellent speed & acceleration stats, along with decent handling. The brakes aren't half bad, either. The Cyclone II is an AWD (all-wheel drive) vehicle with 2 seats and weighs around 1,800 KG.

9. Imponte Arbiter GT

Arbiter-GT-Image.jpg
Imponte Arbiter GT.

The Imponte Arbiter GT, inspired by the real-life 1970 Pontiac GTO, was added as part of the 'Expanded and Enhanced Edition' update on March 15, 2022. This 2-Door Muscle car is available to purchase from Southern San Andreas Auto for $1,580,000. The Arbiter GT can reach a maximum speed of 141.25 mph (227.32 km/h).

Given the vehicle is ranked among the fastest vehicles in GTA Online, it is a great value for money. This 2-seater is an RWD with good speed but below average acceleration stats. It also has terrible braking stats. It otherwise has decent handling stats — not the best on this list, though. The Arbiter GT weighs around 1,592 KG which is moderately heavy for a vehicle, but that doesn't necessarily affect its overall speed and acceleration.

8. Pegassi Weaponized Ignus

Weaponized-Ignus-Image.jpg
Pegassi Weaponized Ignus.

The Pegassi Weaponized Ignus is inspired by a real-life Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 car. It was released as part of the 'Expanded & Enhanced Edition' update on March 15, 2022. This 2-seater Sports AWD weighs around 1,650 KG and is available to purchase from Warstock Cache & Carry for a whopping $4,500,000. It can reach a maximum speed of up to 146.25 mph (235.34 km/h).

The Pegassi Weaponized Ignus has good acceleration stats, together with great speed stats. But the braking stats aren't that great, while the handling stats are one of the best.

7. Grotti Turismo Classic

Turismo-Classic.png
Grotti Turismo Classic.

The Grotti Turismo Classic is primarily based on popular 1980s Ferrari models, but heavily influenced by Ferrari F40 to achieve its aggressive look. Turismo Classic was introduced in GTA Online as part of the 'Expanded & Enhanced Edition' update on March 15, 2023.

The 2-seater RWD (rear-wheel drive) Super Car is available to purchase from Legendary Motorsport for $705,000 and weighs 1,100 KG. The maximum speed of Turismo Classic is 150.50 mph (242.21 km/h).

The vehicle has some of the best, if not the best, handling among the supercars in GTA Online but not the best acceleration and braking stats.

6. Overflod Entity MT

Entity-MT-image.png
Overflod Entity MT.

Standing at number 6 is the trusty Supercar Overflod Entity MT that can be purchased from Legendary Motorsport for $2,250,000. This sports car is heavily inspired by the real-life Koenigsegg Jesko. It also draws some inspiration from the Koenigsegg Regera. The 2-seater RWD car was introduced as part of the 'Los Santos Drug Wars' update on December1 13, 2022 for GTA Online and can reach a maximum speed of up to 150.50 mph (242.21 km/h)

The car weighs around 1,420 KG and has some of the best handling in the game, followed by speed and acceleration. The braking system and stats are not the best on this supercar, but they are decent enough relative to other supercars.

5. Principe Deveste Eight

Principe-Deveste-Eight-Image.png
Principe Deveste Eight.

The Principe Deveste Eight is primarily inspired by the real-life Devel Sixteen (a Dubai-based concept hypercar) but shares a striking resemblance to some other real-life vehicles, such as the Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo. The later inspiration can be seen in the shape of the vehicle's headlights. The Deveste Eight was introduced as part of the 'Expanded & Enhanced Edition' update. You can purchase it from Legendary Motorsport for $1,795,000.

The 2-seater RWD supercar weighs around 3,000 KG which is quite heavy for a vehicle, but that doesn't necessarily affect its overall speed and acceleration. It will affect how the vehicle collision and handling play out, though.

The heavier vehicles are generally easier to handle, while the light vehicles are tough. This is especially important after a high-speed collision where a lighter vehicle will spin out of control.

The overall braking and handling stats are excellent, as one would expect from a heavy vehicle. The car is swift and can reach the maximum speed of 151.75 mph (244.22 km/h), making the vehicle's speed and acceleration the strongest selling point.

The acceleration on the Deveste Eight is its top stat, followed by its speed and handling. The brake stats are also not too shabby when compared with the other supercars in this category.

4. Bravado Banshee

Bravado-Banshee-Image.png
Bravado Banshee.

While Bravado Banshee 900R was already part of the strongest vehicle list earlier, it has been dethroned by the vehicles that you see on this list. However, a newer and better version of the Banshee (called Bravado Banshee) was released as part of the 'Expanded & Enhanced Edition' on March 15, 2022.

The 2-seater RWD Bravado Banshee takes inspiration from the real-life 2006 Dodge Viper GTS. It can be purchased from Legendary Motorsport and Benny's Original Motor Works for $105,000 and weighs 1,200 KG.

It can reach a maximum speed of up to 153.00 mph (246.23 km/h). The acceleration isn't the best on this vehicle, but it has really good handling and decent braking stats.

3. Karin S95

Karin-S95-Image.jpg
Karin S95.

Coming in hot at number 3 is the Karin S95 and it is the GTA's version of the Toyota GT86. Not only that, but the vehicle also draws heavy inspiration from the classic Subaru BRZ and the Scion FRS. It can be purchased from Southern San Andreas Autos for $1,995,000 and houses only two seats. It is almost an exact copy of the real-life Toyota GT86 Sports car and was introduced as part of the 'Expanded & Enhanced Edition' update on March 15, 2022.

This 2-seater beast is an RWD and weighs 1,270 KG, reaching a maximum speed of 155.50 mph (250.25 km/h). If you're looking for a fast car acceleration-wise, the 811 falls slightly short of other cars in the category but drives super fast. The brakes are much better on the S95 in comparison to the other supercars. The handling is also excellent, especially with upgrades.

2. Benefactor Stirling GT

Stirling-GT.png
Benefactor Stirling GT.

The Benefactor Stirling GT is an exact copy of the real-world Jaguar E-Type and can be purchased from the Legendary Motorsport store for $975,000. it weighs 1,330 KG.

The Benefactor Stirling GT, introduced as part of the Criminal Enterprises update on July 26, 2022, has decent stats. It can reach a maximum speed of up to 156.75 mph (252.26 km/h). It doesn't have the best acceleration or the best braking stats, but it has great handling and, of course, the top speed. This Sports Classic is an RWD and only houses two people (driver and passenger).

1. Declasse Vigero ZX

Vigero-ZX.png
Declasse Vigero ZX.

Finally, the fastest car to dethrone the Ocelot Pariah is the Declasse Vigero ZX Muscle car. Just like the Stirling GT, Vigero ZX was also introduced in GTA Online as part of the Criminal Enterprises DLC on September 9, 2022. It is available to purchase from the Southern San Andreas Super Autos store for $1,947,000. Vigero ZX is heavily inspired by the real-life 2017-2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The headlights are modeled after the 2019 Camaro (facelifted version).

The 2-seater RWD sports car weighs 1,760 KG and can reach a maximum speed of 157.50 mph (253.47 km/h), the fastest recorded car speed in GTA Online. The overall speed, acceleration, and handling stats are decent, but the braking is not the best, though.

Weight and Handling

A few things to consider when interpreting these results are that Broughy is a very skilled virtual driver and that the tests were conducted in an environment where the tested car was the only one on the track. When in an actual race, you'll need to account for your own skill and the other players. As such, we feel it important to highlight two other factors — Weight and Handling.

Weight doesn't affect the speed or lap time in GTA Online, but it does affect how collisions play out. A heavier car will, logically, suffer less. The Coil Cyclone II and Declasse Vigero ZX are chunky rides coming in at well above 1,000 kilograms, whereas lightweight vehicles like the Grotti Turismo Classic (which weighs only 1,100 KG) will spin out of control when knocked around. One of the best examples of the chunkiest vehicles is the Declasse Vigero ZX which weighs around 3,000 KG.

As for handling, the Entity MT on the list wins — it's easy to control for beginners. However, it doesn't take away from the fact that other vehicles, such as the Deveste Eight, Turismo, Classic, Weaponized Ignus, and Cyclone II, don't have good handling. They are almost, if not equally, as good as the Entity MT. Karin S95 also has one of the best stats, including handling and acceleration.

The Best Car In GTA Online

At the end of the day, we have to collate all of these factors and, after some comparisons, pick which car excels in all of them. While one vehicle might be the best when it comes to control, it might lag behind in too many other aspects to be considered the best overall.

At the time of writing, the best racing vehicle in GTA Online is the Karin S95. You might be wondering why not the Declasse Vigero ZX, as it is the fastest on the list. The reason for that is that the best racing car is chosen based on ALL the factors combined and not just the speed of the vehicle.

Karin-S95-Image.jpg
Karin S95.

The overall stats of the Karin S95 are better than the Vigero ZX, even if ZX is faster than the S95. The acceleration, which is one of the key elements when racing, is significantly better in the S95, along with the handling stats, which are excellent on the S95.

The Vigero ZX has below-average acceleration but really good handling stats, which is not enough to call it the best vehicle in GTA Online. The maximum speed of Vigero ZX is 253.47 km/h, while the maximum speed of Karin S95 is 250.25 km/h. There is a mere difference of 3.2 km/h, which is nothing, given how well the overall stats complement the maximum speed of the S95. You can't win a race if you cannot handle the car well, even if you have the fastest vehicle on the road.
