Activision Warn Rockstar Over GTA Sales Record Title
Grand Theft Auto V holds the official record for the biggest video game launch ever, a title it took off of Activision's Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (in terms of value) and Black Ops (for number of units). Well, now Activision want it's old crown back.
Speaking to MCV, Activision denied that the COD series is in decline and instead sent a warning to Rockstar Games not to get too comfortable holding the record. While it's highly unlikely that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be any threat to GTA V, Activision has set themselves the lofty (ahem) goal of regaining the titles before GTA VI is released. So that gives them about 4-5 years. Way to push yourselves guys...
Congratulations to the team at Rockstar for their success. We look forward to getting the record back before the next GTA title.
Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty — what's your pick!?
