Top GTA Online Videos Of The Week: Oct. 31. — Nov. 6.
In our newest weekly feature, we're bringing some of the best fan made video content related to GTA 5 produced in the past 7 days, every Sunday.
Amid all of the fake leak videos, "funny" moments compilations and the several 3-5 minute videos per day uploaded by the same person where they dissect some rumor over and over again by reading up forum posts made by others, you probably don't have the time or patience to sift through all the crap to find the good GTA 5 videos out there — but don't worry, we'll do it for you!
Last week, we brought you yet another comparison/review video from Broughy1322 comparing the Vortex to the Sanctus, a vehicle showcase cinematic of the latter, a mind bending action short tackling time travel, a remake of the first teaser trailer for the upcoming film Logan, and a very odd a thoroughly entertaining parkour video shot entirely in GTA 5. This week, we're bringing a shorter lineup due to a shortage of decent videos — thank the "can x stop the train" videos, and no, it can't. We have a neat historic montage, a showcase of a race which "plays itself", a stylish and violent action short and finally an extremely well made mock-up of a Vice City remaster.
A journey through the ages | GTA 5 Rockstar Editor | History machinima — 8-Bit Bastard
We've featured the work of 8-Bit Bastard quite a bit before on this site, and his videos are always top notch when it comes to originality and creativity. He is most in his element when doing decidedly non-GTA things within GTA 5, such as those two wildlife documentaries shot entirely within the game. This time, he takes us on an epic journey through history, celebrating the past and present of our unique planet. This is really something else when it comes to GTA fan videos, as it seeks to inspire and elate. The choice of music is supreme, and the video itself is extremely well put together. If this won't motivate you to do something meaningful today, nothing will.
Self Playing Race (GTA Online) — KitCatKitchen
Moving on from evocative epics, we reel ourselves in for a neat little video showing off a custom map the likes of which I do not believe has even been done before. Using the Stunt Race Creator that was released some time ago, KitCatKitchen made a race that "plays itself" — meaning that you won't have to press a single button to reach the finish line. Now, the beauty of the thing is derived from the complexity of it. This isn't a straight line race where you start on a speed booster. He did specify that the map is designed to be used with the Faction, and due to the calculation of distances, using different vehicles would lead to failure. Check out the map itself here.
"Obey 11" (GTA 5 Rockstar Editor) — Logic Films
Those of you familiar with Logic Films probably know of their mini-series titled "Obey". Entries in the series are generally short, visceral, highly stylised and well edited violent videos depicting some pretty brutal ways of breaking the law — with violence against the in-game law enforcement being a major theme. This does not change in the 11th entry either. It's short, it's brutal, it's to the point, and it's sure as hell stylish. Don't expect much intellectual satisfaction from this video, as it's little more than violence. But it's well edited and shot (no pun intended) violence.
GTA: Vice City Remastered (fan-made) - Majami Hiroz: Welcome to the '80s
This video here is on a whole different level than much of what we feature in these lineups. The production value on display here is pretty astounding. This video is something of a mock-up of what a remastered GTA: Vice City could be like — in spite of the Commodore 64 intro section — with a neat visual style marrying the low-poly graphics of the original game with modern lighting effects, higher resolution textures and smoother animation. It's sort of uncanny, but also really soothing. The whole thing oozes style, is very well edited, and is perfectly paced. This is the peak, folks.
Which of this week's videos did you like most? What videos do you think deserve to be on this list?
