"Industry Sources" — GTA V PC Release in Q1 2014
Grand Theft Auto V will be released for PC in the first quarter of 2014 "multiple industry sources" have told EuroGamer. We know it's not much to go on, but EuroGamer is probably the most reputable publication to have come out and say what everyone thinks/hopes is going to happen anyway — GTA V's eventual arrival on PC, one day.
It's also the second significant "GTA V on PC" story to come out this week with just a few days ago Intel marketing director Chris Silva saying that GTA V won't remain exclusive to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 for very much longer.
The Q1 2014 timing would also put it slightly ahead of the predictions that we made back in August. Having analysed the number of days it took for Rockstar to release each of GTA III, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas and GTA IV on PC after launching each on consoles, we concluded that April 17 2014 would be the day. Of course averages (like we used in that calculation) are exactly that and a release three or fours weeks earlier (maybe 19 or 26 March) would still not be too far off.
It would also mean that Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, could book what we're sure will be record breaking pre-order and sales numbers into its financial reports for the first quarter of 2014. Just look at how many people have signed the GTA V on PC petition — it's up to just under 600,000 signatures now!
As always, just don't expect Rockstar to comment on the issue. Time will answer this one...
