GTA V Story DLC Still in the Pipeline?

From GTA BOOM Wiki

About a month ago, GameSpot published a piece in which Take-Two Interactive's (Rockstar Games' parent company) CEO Strauss Zelnick mistakenly said that there was no intention to expand on the story of Grand Theft Auto V's single player story with additional content. Later, GameSpot followed up the post with a statement from a representative from Take-Two.

Strauss misspoke during today's call, as over a year ago Rockstar Games had said that they were exploring story mode content for Grand Theft Auto V; however, no further information has been released since. As always, we leave it to Rockstar Games to share information about their games when they're ready.

Now, this is a rather complex situation. It can all be traced back to April 2014, when Rockstar posted an update on their official Newswire, which explicitly stated that story DLC is on the way.

Later this year, look for even more additions to both Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, including more holiday-themed updates, some very exciting Story Mode DLC and much more.

Rockstar releasing larger content boosts for games in the GTA franchise isn't unheard of. The original got the London expansion, and among others, the previous game in the series, GTA IV got two downloadable story content packs.

With the on-going content releases for GTA Online, players who prefer the single player experience may be feeling left out. While Rockstar never gave any official announcements or details regarding the planned story DLC, they did say that it will extend "Michael, Franklin, and Trevor's action, mayhem, and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.

This is news from May, and other than the clarification of Zelnick's misinformation, no other statements have been made, which is strange. Was the planned story DLC cancelled, and Rockstar is hoping that people simple forget about it in order to avoid an embarrassing announcement? Or are they secretly working on a massive and expansive content update that they don't want to reveal just yet?

Obviously, we're hoping for the second one, and despite a few recent blunders, Rockstar has an exceptional track-record when it comes to their content. GTA V's single player mode already has thousands of hours worth of stuff to do, but knowing Rockstar, they don't want to stop there.
