GTA Online Live
Download an update for Grand Theft Auto V and you'll have access to the multiplayer component of the game — Grand Theft Auto Online — starting today. After installing the update, the GTA Online tab should open up under the game menu and you'll also be able to transport directly into "the GTA Online world" by clicking on the 4th character wheel slot (which represents your online persona).
Currently it will let up to 16 people fight (or work together to fight) it out in the streets of Los Santos. You can do all sorts of activities like street racing, jobs and missions (check out our new heists guide by the way) and essentially causing chaos. There's also the ability to customize your character (of course) and even create your own content (coming this fall)! Don't forget those micro-transactions too, which Rockstar confirmed would be present earlier in the week.
As for additional Grand Theft Auto Online details, Rockstar shared a few tidbits of fresh information this morning:
- The events in GTA Online take place a few months before the events of GTA V (the single player game).
- If you get invited to a house party you will not be able to "grief" that person and tear up their joint.
- More missions and jobs will constantly be added.
Speaking personally, we've been struggling to do much in GTA Online as it appears that Rockstar's cloud servers are getting completely and utterly overloaded... How have you gotten on?
